The Face of the Man on the Cross

(April 17, 2007, CBCX Prison, Nashville, TN 9:05AM)

For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. 2 Corinthians 4:6

What’s behind
Each face I see
A longing heart
Searching for eternity

Where is the hope?
For an old lady at a homeless shelter
Or a 21-year old boy
Locked up in fetters

What about others?
Who make mistakes daily
Should they be cast aside
Looked at as a fatality

Sin shows up
In every man’s life
Sometimes you get shot down
Or stabbed in the back with it’s knife

Painful and bleeding
With grief uncompared
Are all those who have empty hears
Bowing under sin’s weight in despair

Where can a man go?
When all hope seems lost
With everyone left alone to die in sin
Look into the face of the man on the cross.
