Divine Romance

(8-18-03, written during lunch, Jersey Mike’s)

To love all of you
With all of me
It’s not just some form of duty
But an indescribable passion

So interlocked
Connected in the hearts
My desires are his
And His mine—
Only when completely intertwined

I live to please with each breath
He longs to give sweet contentment
I am encompassed, ravished
Completely melted, in him, gently perish

He caresses me
Blesses me
With eyes to see
Ears to hear
Hands to touch
A nose to smell
A mouth to taste, to drink
Of the beloved’s wine
We drink together from the fruits of our vine

Fruition, a ripening
It’s cleansing, so purifying
I’m intoxicated
But completely eradicated

I am fully myself
My senses alert
Humbleness from the dirt
In which this body was made
Confidence in the Rose of Sharon
That shall never fade

I never walk alone
My hand in his, gently clasped—
Begging me not to roam
For my wildness of heart
Sometimes longs for worldly adventure, departs

I have cheated on my first love
Commit adultery
His longing, the call comes with harp and psaltery
It’s delicate, gracious, forgiving, and pure
Hearing the melody, I’m slowly allured

Smiling, our hearts reunited
The fires of love re-ignited
The glowing passions, liberating
Sensual, perfect, my heart once again pulsating

So invigorating,
Falling in love,
With God’s Perfect Dove
Creates a burning of the soul
An Eternal Goal
With flames of repentance
Sacred in this Divine Romance
